Arthritis Pain
Arthritis is a damage of joints of the body. Coming from the Greek word arthro meaning joint and itis meaning inflammation. It is common in people over 55 and suffers can be disabled from the crippling disease.
There different types of arthritis and each affect the individual in different ways. But what all arthritis forms have in common is the element of pain. Everyone suffering from the joint damage is in extreme amounts of pain.
Pain will occur at different times, depending on the type of arthritis. Some suffers will have pain in the morning and get through the day with mild pain, whilst others may find relief at night and have pain during the day. Stiffness of the joints is what makes arthritis so painful as they cannot move the joints freely.
What Causes Arthritis Pain?
Inflammation in the joints causes swelling and over a period of time it damages the joints and the tissues holding it in place. The pressure on your joints and them not being able to move causes pain. Being tired or stressed can cause more pain to the joints as they are not functioning correctly to begin with and this can add to the weight already there.
Being frustrated from the disease is said to cause more pain. AS it is common for the elderly, they can get easily frustrated, as they can no longer do the things they had previously done before. Some types of arthritis can stop them from doing the simplest of tasks like peeling a potato.
Some believe that a great way to stop the pain is by thinking positive. Having good thoughts will enable you to keep positive and not think about the pain occurring. Medications are also available from your doctor to help assist with the pain and discomfort.
